Dear Families,
On Thursday, June 11, we celebrated prom with our graduating class. It was a night to remember, filled with joy, laughter, and lasting memories. We are so proud of our students and grateful to all who helped make the evening so special. Thank you to our staff for planning this wonderful event.
Please note that exams will begin on Tuesday, June 16. We encourage all students to stay focused, maintain strong study habits, and prioritize their well-being during this important time.
We are also pleased to share that our Graduation Ceremony will take place on June 23, 2026, at Le Jardin Event Space. We look forward to celebrating this significant milestone with our graduating students and their families. Please refer to the attached information for important details regarding the event.
As we wrap up the year, we ask all students to continue making wise and responsible decisions both in and out of school so that we can finish the year safely, successfully, and with pride.
Additionally, if your child will not be returning to Emily Carr next school year, we kindly ask that you inform the school as soon as possible.

Last Day for Cafeteria
As a reminder, Friday, June 12 will be the final day of cafeteria service. The cafeteria will be closed starting the week of June 15, 2026.

As part of the York Region District School Board’s Math Achievement Action Plan, YRDSB is committed to enhancing student success in mathematics through high-impact instructional practices and resources.
Your input is valuable in helping us better understand how current resources, which may include one or more of the following: practice work, math activities like games and puzzles, books, MathUP, Google Classroom resources, are supporting your child(ren)’s learning at school and at home. Please take a moment to complete this two question Family Feedback Survey on Math Resources (https://ca.research.net/r/mathfamilysurvey) about the math resources available to your child(ren) at home and in the classroom. Please complete this survey by Friday, June 26, 2026.

Parent, Family and Community Engagement Advisory Committee (PEAC)
Deadline extended. Applications due June 17, 2026.
Parents, caregivers and family members are invited to apply for membership on PEAC. The committee offers families a meaningful opportunity to share their perspectives and support family engagement at the Board level to improve student achievement and well-being.

Equity and Inclusivity Advisory Committee (EIAC)

Family and community members can apply for one of eight positions on EIAC. The committee supports YRDSB’s commitment to providing equitable and inclusive learning and working environments in all schools and workplaces of the Board.

Updates from Vaughan Public Libraries
At Vaughan Public Libraries, the learning continues all summer long with our Empower YOUth program lineup. Designed for students aged 11–18, these innovative programs aim to build self-confidence, strengthen resilience, and develop leadership skills.

Guidance Updates
Outstanding Community Involvement Hours are due on Monday, June 15th for graduating students. They can be shared with Ms. Giotis via email or handed in directly to the Guidance Office.
Private School Marks / Non-YRDSB Marks - As we begin to prepare for graduation, we want to remind students/families that private school/non-YRDSB report cards are due to Ms. Giotis by Monday, June 15th. Should students require an extension, they are asked to reach out to Ms. Giotis directly via email or by popping into the Guidance Office.
Summer Dual Credit opportunities are available for students in Grade 11 and Grade 12. Please refer to the attached flyer for more information and on how to apply.
Summer School Learning Opportunities are still available in myBlueprint. Students are asked to return the signed parent/guardian Sign-Off sheet from myBlueprint to the Guidance Office to ensure that the final approval step takes place. New for this year - YRDSB students can take courses in July and/or August.
