Emily Carr Secondary School is in the process of applying to become an International Baccalaureate (IB) accredited school.
In October 2026, it is anticipated that students who are in Grade 8 at the time will be able to apply to the IB programme for the 2027-2028 school year at Emily Carr Secondary School. Successful applicants participate in an enriched course of study during Grade 9 and 10, and begin the IB Diploma Programme in their Grade 11 year.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme is an internationally recognized education program that encourages students to think critically, ask questions and understand the world from different perspectives. Students in the IB Diploma Programme in York Region District School Board (YRDSB) work towards earning both the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) and the IB Diploma.
